Britten’s War Requiem – Southbank Centre

Britten’s War Requiem – Southbank Centre

A centenary performance on remembrance Sunday 2014

Suzi trained and led an unauditioned group of local children who formed the Voicelab Children’s Choir for this performance of Britten’s epic War Requiem, conducted by Marin Alsop. This ambitious project won a 2015 Royal Philharmonic Society award in the category of Learning and Participation.

Benjamin Britten’s War Requiem formed the centrepiece of Southbank Centre’s  day-long centenary celebration, a festival of remembrance. Performers were drawn from the Royal Academy of Music alongside the National Youth Choirs of Great Britain together with Southbank Centre’s specially formed Voicelab Children’s Choir.
